1. Operates a school bus(es) as may be assigned
2. Check the operating condition of the bus before starting a trip.
3. Reports operational defects to the immediate supervisor daily.
4. Informs children/students of safety rules and habits.
5. Maintains orderly conduct and discipline on the bus.
6. Keeps the interior of a vehicle clean at all times.
7. Maintains required records of mileage, trip log, vehicle condition, etc.
8. Prepares records of routes, pickup points, bus lists, and other records as may be required by the district.
9. Performs tasks related to the transport of pupils as may be assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
10. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Administration.
1. Good knowledge of driving safety practices and of traffic laws and regulations.
2. The ability to operate a school bus under difficult driving and rod conditions.
3. The ability to get along well with children, command their respect, and possess good disciplinary habits.
4. Ability to communicate successfully with children and parents.
5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
6. Ability to get along with fellow workers.
7. Mental alertness and dependability.
8. Good physical condition.
9. Good mechanical aptitude, judgment and driving record.
10. Hold or be eligible for a New York State Class B Commercial Driver's License with "P" and "S" endorsements.
11. Conformance with the district's Drug and Alcohol testing policy.
12. Pass the Biennial Oral or Written Examination, Article 19-A Vehicle & Traffic Law.
13. Pass the Biennial Behind the Wheel Road Test, Article 19-A Vehicle & Traffic Law.
14. Pass the Bus Driver's Physical Endurance Test.
15. Be at least 21 years of age and meet all district and legal mandates.
