Position Overview:
The Red Creek Central School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Instrumental Music Teacher to serve students at the middle school and high school levels. The successful candidate will lead and develop performance ensembles while fostering a culture of musical excellence, creativity, and student engagement. This position includes opportunities to expand program offerings and support a comprehensive music education experience both during and beyond the school day.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct and instruct middle school and high school instrumental ensembles, including band and other performance groups.
• Plan and deliver high-quality instruction that develops students’ technical skills, musicality, and performance confidence.
• Prepare students and ensembles for concerts, performances, and adjudicated events.
• Develop and implement curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards for the Arts.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners at varying skill levels.
• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support growth.
• Maintain and manage music inventory, instruments, and equipment.
• Collaborate with music and faculty colleagues to support a cohesive K–12 music program.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and the school community regarding performances and program expectations.

Program Opportunities and Expectations:

• Teach and/or expand elective music courses at the secondary level, including opportunities for college-level or dual-credit coursework where applicable.
• Support and grow a vibrant instrumental music program that encourages student participation and achievement.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to extracurricular music activities, including lessons, ensembles, clubs, and performances beyond the school day.
• Contribute to school and community events that highlight student musicians and the music program.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Appropriate New York State certification in Music Education (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience working with middle and/or high school ensembles preferred.

Preferred Skills and Qualities:

• Demonstrated experience directing middle school and high school performance ensembles.
• Proficiency in multiple instruments and the ability to support students across a range of instrumental groups.
• Experience teaching elective and/or college-level music courses.
• Strong commitment to extracurricular programming and student engagement beyond the classroom.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and the community.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional growth and program development.
